Happy Release Day!
I'm so excited to announce that EMPTY is available to the world today. I have a couple surprises for you. I hope you enjoy them. Oh. I finished Cracked not that long ago, and it was phenomenal, so I'm very much looking forward to Empty!

My favorite tough issue book is probably Go Ask Alice or Wintergirls. Loved both!

One of mine is Speak.
I just read ALMOST by Anne Eliot. It was really good. It is not as heavy as some books out there..but it still touches on a tough subject.
Waking Rose by Regina Doman is my favorite.
I *loved* SPEECHLESS by Hannah Harrington. I am not sure if this counts as "tough issue" in content, but it deals with bullying because of sexual orientation. I LOVED this book so much.

to be honest, the only one i have read is the iceberg hermit. surviving alone in the wilderness seems pretty tough if you ask me.
Tough Issues...probably some old reads for me, when the YA genre seemed to resonate more, like Go Ask Alice...I've been wanting to read the Fault in Our Stars though, I just haven't worked up the nerve.
The Sea of Tranquility and Hopeless. Very serious issues tackled but the books still manage to be romantic and uplifting in spite of the serious hardships endured.
Flawed by Kate Avelynn is my favorite tough issue book. That book was so hard to read, but it was so beautiful and heartbreaking. Also I just read Suicide Watch by Kelley York and that was amazing too.
Hopeless by Colleen Hoover.
I'm going with Speak.
I have a hard time with any real life stories. Especially ones that involve kids. As a mom, all the horrors that await my children in the world scares me. I know that there are children going through the worse kinds of hell every minute of the day. I encourage my 13 yr old to read real life books so that she is not oblivious to the world around her.
These types of books are some of my favorites...a few that I loved: Crank/Glass/Fallout by Ellen Hopkins (well, any of the YA books by Ellen Hopkins, really), Rape Girl by Alina Klein, Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher...
My favorite tough issue book would have to be either Wintergirls or Thirteen Reasons Why.
